One email a week: the AI stories that mattered, explained simply.
Artificial Analysis ranks it the strongest US model you can download, though running it at home takes two top-end Mac Studios.
Also today: ChatGPT gets new voices, and Claude Code Review reaches business plans. NVIDIA and Black Forest Labs have new open models. Two tools are on GitHub's trending list.
Meta released Muse Spark Open on October 15, 2026. It is an AI model for coding and long, multi-step tasks, and anyone can download it from Hugging Face. On October 13, News Desk covered Muse Wonder, which Meta keeps closed. Most people will use Spark Open through hosting services such as OpenRouter and Groq. Artificial Analysis lists the price at about $1.25 for every 750,000 words you send it. Agent work is a different story: on Artificial Analysis's four tests of tasks the AI carries out by itself, it placed last of the nine strongest open models. OpenAI Adds New Voices in Six Languages to ChatGPT
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-Live-1.1, the model behind spoken conversations in ChatGPT, to all users on October 15, 2026. It adds voices in French, German, Hindi, Mexican Spanish, Korean and Japanese, plus a new English voice called Bubbie. If you talk to ChatGPT out loud, you get the update without doing anything. OpenAI says accents sound better. The same voices reach Codex and dots, and OpenAI says developers get access through its API later. OpenAI's system card ↗
Anthropic Opens Claude Code Review to Team and Enterprise Plans
Anthropic made Claude Code Review generally available to Claude Team and Enterprise customers on October 15, 2026. The tool uses several AI agents to read proposed code changes and flag bugs before a person approves them, which matters for teams whose AI assistants now write code faster than people can check it. It is also faster now. Anthropic says most reviews finish in 6 to 10 minutes, about three times faster than during the test period. A REVIEW.md file in a project tells Claude what to look for. Eligible Enterprise customers can claim at least $10,000 in credits until January 15, 2027. Anthropic's announcement ↗
NVIDIA Releases Nemotron 3.5 Super VL, Free in OpenCode
NVIDIA released Nemotron 3.5 Super VL on October 15, 2026, an open model that reads text, images, documents and video and is built for AI agents. NVIDIA published the training data and recipes too, so companies can adapt it. A smaller version, Bolt, fits on a single graphics card with 24GB of memory. The same day, OpenCode, a free coding assistant, made Super VL free to use. On October 16 it did the same for GLM 5.3 Flash. This continues a run: News Desk reported OpenCode's free DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on October 15. OpenCode's posts do not say how long the free access lasts. NVIDIA's announcement ↗

Black Forest Labs Releases FLUX 3 Image Klein for Home PCs
Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein on October 15, 2026, a free-to-download model that makes and edits images at up to 4K resolution. The company says a compressed version runs on a graphics card with 8GB of memory. Many gaming PCs have one. You can give it up to 10 reference images, and it leaves the parts you did not ask to change untouched. Businesses earning under $5 million a year can use it commercially for free. The quality comparisons so far come from Black Forest Labs itself. Black Forest Labs' blog ↗
Microsoft Finishes Training MAI-Base-2, Its Own AI Model
Microsoft AI finished training MAI-Base-2 in 38 days on 16,000 NVIDIA chips, the company's lab notes said on October 15, 2026. It is a base model. That means a raw model that has not yet been taught to follow instructions. Microsoft has long sold AI built on OpenAI's models. The company has not named a product or a price for MAI-Base-2, and it has given no date. The performance figures come from Microsoft. Microsoft AI's notes ↗
Perplexity Publishes SPACE, the Sandbox Behind Its Computer Agent
Perplexity released SPACE as free, open code on October 15, 2026. SPACE is the system that walls off each task in Perplexity Computer, its AI agent, inside its own small virtual machine. Passwords and internet access stay outside that wall. Perplexity says none of its 108 escape tests reached the main machine. For companies that let agents run code no one has reviewed, this gives them a tested design to copy. SPACE on GitHub ↗
